But wait, what's that I don't hear? Could it be the silence of Ginny's brand new shiny red electric scooter? Stay tuned, one way or another, for some new songs soon, including those about the new two wheeled toy, bringing out your Inner Tiger, a Lactation Lament and a Spike Milligan tribute (Gardening in My Pyjamas).

It's Just a Stage We're Going Through...

Hello everyone!

Yep, the atrocious nylon wigs have been packed away in mothballs (not that any self-respecting moth would have a bar of them) for a while now. The only stages within cooooooo-eeeeeee have been the developmental ones Ginny's Wee Munchkin is passing through at a rate of knots- He's not the only one who has toddled off to discover new things! In other words, pregnancy and motherhood have largely been consuming Ginny's time and energy for a while and Joanna, an older-child-empty-nest-Mummy, has been getting on with other musical interests. But "we're ba-ack"!!!

Following is the 'potted spotted history' of Bad Hair Day and some piccies for you to enjoy...

By the way, we're quite flattered that The Kransky Sisters have copied our polka dot theme. And just when we thought spots were totally retro and completely naff, they're all over current fashions. Trendsetters are we.... ;-)

Bending The Blues, Putting the Corn in Country & Generally Giving Broadway a Bad Name...

The most recent incarnation, Ginny Webb (the duo's songwriter) and Joanna Ayckbourn (diva extraordinaire) in the CD cover photo...

Things have been quiet on the BHD front as Ginny's pregnancy and parenthood, despite inspiring a scattering of songs, has largely consumed her time and energy. Let's just say the ink has dried in the pen while the milk has flowed from the breast!

Previously, Fremantle-based Ginny and Joanna have been 'spotted' adding a humorous note around the traps since 2002- at VoiceMoves WA gigs, Fairbridge Festival(http://www.fairbridgefestival.com/). The irreverent pair received a special mention at the (totally woman-powered) JJJ Raw Comedy Fremantle heats 2002, and have supported various fundraisers.

More recently, it's been the odd Munchkin Birthday (since Ginny spawned a wee one) and low key get togethers in people's back gardens. The Hairs tend to prefer BBQs and mozzie lamps to canapes and bright lights. 'Change Nappies Together', a parody of Turtles song 'So Happy Together', written well before Pixie Munchkins materialized, has well and truly found it's authentic niche!

Ginny, the duo's songwriter, having dabbled with the a cappella scene and community choirs, once participated in the Great Comedy Debate at Fairbridge Festival debate (arguing that Sex is Better Than Poetry). She has hung up her musical director's cap and is happy to not be so 'out there', at least for now. As Mummy to a gorgeous toddler, Ginny noodles around at home on the piano, in between sleep and nappy loads (and sometimes during). She also dabbles with a bit of writing and photography and the occasional silly song still pops out (stay tuned for more on 'My How Things have Changed' aka 'The Lactation Lament'), although more often they're soulfully serious. Ginny currently facilitates a support group and squeezes in a bit of work as an Associate Simply Music piano teacher- a wonderful, innovative approach to learning piano- for bread and butter (see http://www.simplymusic.com/).

Joanna, the duo's energetic diva of voice, coaches contemporary singing and directs a number of fun community choirs. Being of Rock Chick persuasion, she has lived for a period in the USA and drives an electric blue Monaro. She is also a skilled intuitive rebirther and works with sound healing. Joanna joined when Julianne Cannon left and the duo morphed into Bad Hair Day.

In a Past Life...

Some rare archival footage of the pair performing at Kulcha as part of their live demo recording, 2002. Ginny is even more allergic to recording studios than she is to performing, but is pleased that some of the songs have been recorded to hand to anyone who needs them.

In a previous incarnation, the line up started out as A Cupella Gals. It consisted of Ginny and Julianne Cannon, a divine-voiced soprano, actor and drama teacher who fled to Sydney, where she has been 'spotted' keeping the tradition alive (with Ginny's blessing, some of the songs find their way back to the light of day and a 'neastern naudiance').
